Winning Campaigns, Building Organizations
The Fund gets results that make our country better. When the Sierra Club and other national environmental organizations presented the U.S. Forest Service with more than a million public comments demanding the preservation of our last pristine national forests, the Forest Service couldn’t
say no. The Fund generated 600,000 of those comments.
In recent years, the Fund has helped build several brand-new state
environmental groups into powerful political players. The Fund started
working with Environment Colorado in 2003, the year the Colorado-based
advocacy group was founded. Today, Environment Colorado has over
25,000 members and has played a key part in several significant victories,
including passing the nation’s first-ever ballot initiative mandating utilities
use more clean, renewable energy like wind and solar power.
Multiply those results by about 1,000 and you start to get a sense
of what we’ve accomplished over the past 25 years. And we’ve only just
begun.
