Genevieve Hartsock

Telephone Outreach Project Director, Sacramento, CA

School: University of Oregon, 2009

Staff since 2009.

Genevieve first became involved in grassroots political organizing in high school. During an Oregon election campaign, she knocked on hundreds of doors and had face-to-face conversations with people about the changes they wanted to see now and in the future.  This experience in people-powered politics inspired her to find a way to continue working in community-based activism.   After graduating from the University of Oregon in 2009, she took a position directing in the Telephone Outreach office in Portland, Oregon.  Genevieve and her staff have been able to build nation-wide public support for U.S. PIRG’s campaign to rein in Wall Street, and were able to see reforms signed into law in 2010.  After spending two years as an Assistant Director in Portland, Genevieve took on the lead director position in the Fund's Sacramento Telephone Outreach project continuing to build support for U.S. PIRG and Environment America.
